Artist Trading Cards

Artist Trading Cards (ATC's) are small pieces of art made to a standard of 2-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches, or 64 x 89 millimeters. They're intended to be either original artwork or produced in very low-count editions, and traded with other artists so as to foster artist-to-artist interaction and to help grow art collections in the process. It's a clever idea initiated, depending on which story you follow, either by Zurich artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann, or Calgary artist Chuck Stake - aka Don Mabie; and it's still going strong, at both regular and irregularly-scheduled events and art-related happenings. As an added bonus, since the size and shape is the same as the common standard used for trading cards of all kinds, they can be collected and protected in readily available sleeves and binder card sheets.
You can get more information on this concept at the Artist Trading Card website.

A couple more sites to check out are an article by Joumana Medlej on Cedarseed.com, and the very recently founded Artist Trading Card Society.
If you want to make some Art Cards of your own, you can easily cut out the 64mm x 89mm cards yourself out of your preferred material, or you can buy a package of 12 cards pre-cut from polycarbonate plastic from KMaynesPaint. You can buy Practice Blanks either directly by emailing, or through the KMaynesPaint store at eBay.com
