The single most common question - How much to get a paint job done?
The single most common answer - It all depends on the level of detail.

Price Codes

Since a lot of what we do here at KMaynesPaint is rather difficult to quantify without a clear idea of what the project's end result is intended to be, I've put together a coding system to help in estimating what a given piece might cost to have done.

Most of the thumbnail images on the site include a Price Code letter. These codes provide reference points for what you might pay to get something with a similar level of detail. These estimates do not include the substrate (i.e. r/c body or t-shirt), only the paint work thereon. Each letter corresponds to an estimated price range as listed below;

A = $20-30

B = $30-50

C = $50-75

D = $75-100

E = $100 and up

F = Item-specific quote required;
please email for further information.

A few notes regarding the "F" class of price code. In some cases there is an exceptional amount of work put in. When it comes to an R/C shell, these are for the most part something I've done for myself, often with the sole intention of winning the next Concours D'Elegance. This doesn't mean I'm not willing to put in that much work on your item, it just means that you'd better be prepared to pay for my time. For example, if I were to do something like the RealFruit Alfa as a commissioned work, I likely wouldn't do it for any less than $300. I'd be unlikely to attempt another piece like Exhibit A for anything under $5000.

How to get an Estimate

If you have a design of your own in mind and would like to know if I can do it and how much it would cost, I'll first require some information from you. E-mail with things like;

What item you want painted, i.e. an R/C body, or a T-shirt, or anything else you have in mind.

What you want painted on it, i.e. a theme or a particular image.  Pictures and sketches in this case are very helpful. In this case, "But I can't draw" is not a valid excuse. It doesn't have to be a museum piece, just readable enough that I can understand the idea you're trying to get across.

You can even use a Template, as found here. Any paint job I do for which a sketch was submitted on a premium template (purchased via BitPass) is subject to a 5% discount.

Alternatively, do you have a target budget? I can work toward a particular limit, for example "Do what you can with black and white for $35". Themes help here, like Flames, Lightning, or Chequerboard.

Purchasing from KMaynesPaint.Com

Be it a prepainted item listed as for sale on this site, or a custom-designed item just for you, the purchasing process remains the same. We don't have any big flashy secure ordering servers, so we keep it nice and simple. Once an agreement has been reached regarding the item, price, and shipping, you send payment. Once payment has arrived, the item is produced if necessary and then shipped, usually by Canada Post unless another method is requested.

You can easily start the ball rolling via email.

A more specific description of the process can be found here.
